Doug literally knows how sausage is made. He’s received 2 a.m. emails from Steve Jobs in haiku. He has been told by five Fortune 500 CMOs that “this is the most important campaign you’ll ever do.” He’s an ECD who starts up offices, builds departments, grows agencies, inspires great work, and wins business and awards.
He currently heads up the California office of Detroit’s Lafayette American. Before moving to Detroit to lead Ford's Content Studio at GTB, Doug spent four years in Shanghai overseeing all Ford creative throughout Asia Pacific and launching Lincoln in China. Yet he still barely speaks a word of Mandarin.
Nearly every person who has ever worked with Doug still likes him. (Really. Check!) He does not like to talk about himself, but loves telling stories about brands, other people, and old baseball players. Doug has an uncanny ability to find the perfect metaphor for nearly any situation, like he was granted that wish by a genie.
He has worked on world-famous brands (Apple, Visa, Heineken, PlayStation) and helped others become famous (Saturn, Peet’s Coffee, Dos Equis). His campaigns have been awarded Effies, Lions, various pencils, Clios, ADDYs, ANDYs, OBIEs, and others that he can’t remember.
Doug has three kids, two dogs, a cat, and an amazing wife, all of whom are smarter and funnier than he is.
